"SUMMERTIME"

The song "Summertime" definitely NOT a fun, beachy, summer romp. Instead its soaring, desolate, isolated, and yearning. More about the summer that's always out of reach, than the one in hand. And, Thomas is a soulful singer and a genuine rock star of a performer. So we shot "Summertime" on a dark, chilly Fall night. Everything about the video was calculated to get across the energy of the song and Thomas's intensity performer.
"JUNGLE DRUMS"
Dexter and Sara Romweber are intense performers without any sense of artifice. They go somewhere outside of time when they play. When filming, it is both inadvisable and impossible to cut a take, because they're beyond communication.
Capturing this intensity was our goal with this video.

This video captures two separate performances. Players included Big Star's own Jody Stephens, Mike Mills (R.E.M.), Mitch Easter (Let's Active), Stamey, and members of the Love Language, Megafaun, The Rosebuds, Lost in the Trees, The Old Ceremony, Birds and Arrows, Mayflies USA, the Tomahawks and the NC Symphony.
Lead vocals by Django Haskins of The Old Ceremony. Additional vocals by Sidney Dixon. Ari Picker from Lost In The Trees conducted the orchestra.
